Very Low CalorieĀ for Weight Loss in Los AngelesĀ and Bakersfield

What is it?

A Very Low Calorie Diet (VLCD) is a medical weight management program where patients consume 800-1100 calories per day.

Who is it for?

A VLCD is an aggressive weight management program designed for severely overweight people or for those who need to lose a large amount of weight quickly and safely. Most patients have attempted other diets.

How much weight?

Although the results experienced with weight loss are different for each person, and your results will depend on your adherence to the weight loss plan provided by Dr. Kerendian, research shows that using a VLCD, you can expect to lose between 3 to 5 pounds per week*. Weight loss from 50 to 150 or more pounds can be achieved with a VLCD.

Special considerations

During a VLCD, you will replace your normal food for OPTIFAST shakes and bars. OPTIFAST is recognized as the gold standard for medical weight loss formula because of the high quality nutrients that it contains which fulfill 100% of the recommended daily values, making it a complete food. This nutritious formula only contains 800-1000 calories per day, which is the key factor in successful weight loss.

Surprisingly, after about a week on a VLCD, your appetite will be reduced to the point that you no longer feel hungry. Dr. Kerendian may prescribe appetite control medications or injections to assist you through this initial first few days of transition.

Because of the large amount of weight loss possible with a VLCD, our medical team will monitor you very closely. You will require frequent evaluation in our clinic along with periodic blood analysis and other medical testing to ensure that you maintain optimum health throughout the weight loss period. Dr. Kerendian is always involved in your care.
